NOTE 2: For passengers with flights between USA/CAN, even with more than 24 hours stop‐over in any airport, it is granted baggage allowance of the International sector.
NOTE 3: The above rules are applied to flights operated by SATA. For flights operated by other airlines, may be applied other rules taking into account the most significant airline travel.
NOTE 4: Flights operated by U.S. Airways - the baggage allowance will be defined by these companies.
NOTE 5: The transport of animals and sports equipment is included in the baggage allowance.
NOTE 6: Due to canadian impositions, the maximum limit per piece is 30 kg.
NOTE 7: For student passengers the free allowance should be added 10 kg in all SATA operating flights. In case of passengers to/from USA, Canada and Brasil should be added 1 piece with 10 kg.

The transportation of sporting equipment  is included in the baggage allowance.
For golf and diving equipment, 15Kg will be added (for flights with weight limits) and 1 piece (for flights with piece limits).
If the allowance is exceeded, the applicable rate for excess baggage will be applied at the airport.

Information on the type, the weight and the dimensions of equipment must be given at the time of reservation, which will be subject to later confirmation.

Small domestic pets (up to 8 kg) may travel in the cabin in a kennel, cage or waterproof bag allowing the animal to stand up, turn around and lie down. During the flight, the container may not be placed on the seats.

Flights operated by SATA Air Açores have transport limitations according to aircraft type: 2 animals in DASH 400, and 1 animal in DASH 200.

Animals over 8kg must be checked in, and will be transported in their kennel in a heated compartment.

For security reasons, rodents should be transported in a rigid container and sealed system (which prevents accidental escape of the rodent) and pregnant females will not be accepted on board.

Information on the type of animal, the animal’s weight and the dimensions of its kennel must be given at the time of reservation, which will be subject to later confirmation. The animal's updated veterinary documentation must be presented at check-in time. 

If the free baggage allowance is exceeded, animal transport fees (see excess luggage fees) will be charged at the airport.

Exceptions: 
The transport of animals on flights to/from England is not allowed. Passengers can transport animals (cats, dogs and ferrets only) to/from Ireland.
The transport of animals on WestJet flights is not allowed.

Note:
IATA recommendations currently prohibit birds and other domestic fowl from being brought on board the cabin.

We provide special assistance after check-in and during the flight to children between 5 and 11 travelling without adult supervision (more than 18 years old), under a payment of a fee:

• EUR 40 for Domestic flights and flights within Europe;
• EUR 100 for flight from Portugal to Canada, United States and Brasil;
• CAD 150 for flights from Canada to Portugal;
• BRL 250 for flights from Brasil to Portugal;
• USD 150 for flights from United States to Portugal.

These values are applied to flights operated by SATA. Flights operated on code-share, the tax fee may change according to the company that operates the flight.

Children under 5 must travel with an adult fare and pay a surcharge for supervision by an assistant. Payment of the fee should be made at the airport on the day of travel.
At the time of reservation, identification and contact information must be provided for the adult meeting the child at the destination airport. In the case of a flight technical stop, the inexistence of an escort previously designated to accompany the children at the transfer station implies boarding refusal.
